Header Tags are specified with the following HTML code: <h1>Place Header Text Here</h1., <h2>Place Header Text Here</h2>, and so on through <h6>.
Here are the basic rules of thumb regarding your header tag:
- Place important keywords in your header tags (they are the next most important place for your keywords after the title tags).
- <h1> is generally considered more important than an <h2> tag, which is more important than an <h3> tag, and so on.
- Your header tags should look natural and appeal to customers who visit your site (header tags become the headlines on your web page).
- Place your best keywords in the first headline
For example, if you sold real estate in San Diego, you header tags might look like this:
<h1>Your San Diego Real Estate Resource</h1>
<h2>For buying San Diego real estate and selling real estate in San Diego, we’re your one-stop source.</h2>
